Leadership in Learning

During peak disaster response, I worked through exhaustion so my team didn’t have to. I absorbed pressure, handled escalation, and stayed up late solving problems so others could log off and recover. I told myself it was leadership. Sometimes it was. But it also meant I became the buffer instead of building enough buffer into the system. I am learning that protecting the team also includes protecting myself.
